1919 Founder Riichi Ezaki confirmed suitability of glycogen contained in oysters for confectionery production.
1921 Production and trial launch of "Glico" caramel commenced. Ezaki Shoten established in Nishi-ku, Osaka. Horie Plant built.
1922 "Glico" sales launched at Mitsukoshi Department Store in Osaka on February 11. This date designated as the company's foundation day.
1925 Toyosaki Plant established to take over Horie Plant's operations.
1927 The first confectionery including an 'omake' (free toy) developed. This was to satisfy the two basic desires of children - eating and playing - at the same time.
1931 Glico vending machine with a film projector developed and patent applied for. Installed in various department stores in Tokyo, this machine gains tremendous popularity.
Osaka Plant established to take over Toyosaki Plant's operations.
1932 Dalian Plant established in China, marking the company's entry to Chinese and Southeast Asian markets.
1933 Yeast-based biscuit "Bisco" launched and its newly developed production method attracts a great deal of attention.
Unique mini-size advertisement with short-message launched, gaining popularity.
1934 The Mother & Child Health Foundation established for promoting the health of mothers and children and for social contributions.
1935 Giant 33 meter high Glico neon sign built in Osaka, becoming a landmark.
1937 Tokyo Plant established.
