At present, Glico research leading to product development originates mainly in the R&D Laboratory while the Institute of Health Sciences conducts basic studies and undertake new material development related to the health & nutrition facets of food products.
Joint studies of carbohydrates are also conducted with some of the world's top-ranked universities and research centers. As a result, Glico has earned recognition as an important manufacturer undertaking significant research related to carbohydrate and carbohydrate-active enzymes. Materials born out of such research are all "one-of-a-kind" products, and all are made utilizing enzymes that were uniquely developed by Glico.
Further, research on nutritious tastefulness has resulted in the mechanisms related to taste now being better understood.
